The Kitchen - Before Pics.

I did a little digging for some truly brutal before pics of my kitchen.
This is how the kitchen looked when we bought the house in 2000.
Nice Orange eh?!  Those avocado appliances were rockin'!
The floor - wood grain carpet.

The lovely brick? It wrapped the walls.
Ripping up the carpet, we found this flooring,
then went down another layer to get to floor #1.

We put in a 1" solid maple floor. We did this ourselves - would not recommend.
It was one of the hardest things we've done.
The husband is a custom cabinet maker. Truly a master wood worker.
Which is why when I saw this orange/brown room,
I knew he could do whatever was possble.
We finished it about 4 yrs ago.

Below:
I snapped these pics tonight just to show you
the difference and how far it's come.

And in case you missed this from an earlier post; before.

After:
The diamonds, I painted this past November.

I mentioned in an earlier post:
The stove is a 1950 Tappan. It was free.
 A total find on twincitiesfreemarket.org.

We added antique tin to the ceiling.
That was a really tough job - stipping off layers of ancient paint.
But worth it.

The doorway is removed and we added the arch.
I love the farmhouse sink. Everyone should have one.
The floor is actually ready to be refinished, but I'm just not ready to tackle it.
One day.   And I still need that wood panel for the dishwasher front....
Are we ever really done?

Have a great week!
xo Jeanne.

I cannot even begin to describe to you the amount of work that went into this kitchen.

  6. Hi Jeanne,
Beautiful transformation! Love the farmhouse sink and vintage stove. We redid our kitchen a few years ago too and my hubby and I did all the demo ourselves...It was a nightmare, but at the end it was definitely all worth it. We too put in a farmhouse sink and I designed the whole kitchen around a vintage O'Keefe and Merritt stove an aunt gave to me...I've been wanting to do a before and after post about my kitchen too and now that I've read yours, I'm excited to work on mines :-) Thanks for the inspiration. Have a wonderful day.

    Hugs and Kisses,
    ♥Ana

It's no fun getting 40 comments on how super handy it is to purchase viagra.)
