"Put in on the white cabinet." is the main response when the kids ask us where stuff should go. Toys don't quite get put away, laundry gets stored, and 'general crap' gets put upstairs.
So inevitably it ends up looking like this.
A very scary mess:
After about 2 hrs of cleaning, 7 bags went go to Goodwill and 2 large bags of trash:
We did major organizing and put things in bins, tossed and gave away.
We're inspired. So, the giant badly painted white cabinets are being ripped out and we are painting the walls. The walls are covered with the weird wood paneling, ick!! Our ultimate goal is to drywall the whole thing, but for now paint will have to suffice. The wood floor will be stained dark. (When we moved in, there was orange carpeting- lovely. )
The little door on the left opens up to this little room which we used as a playroom when the kids were smaller.
It was part of our cleaning overhaul.
It's actually a pretty cute little room but there is no insulation and it's freezing in the winter.
So we've opted to use it for storage.
So today we paint, the pealy door at the end of the hall gets redone too, thank goodness.
It has potential, but once again there is work to be done. A bit more organizing and no doubt a trip to Home Depot.
I'm putting on my painting clothes, rolling up my sleeves and getting down to business.
Husband is the the mood to paint, so Amen to that! and we're ready to roll.
This is definitely the "before." I am a bit green in the gills to have shown you!
I'm posting it QUICK before I have a chance to change my mind!
Happy Saturday. Wish us luck.

*Update 10:30 pm, Saturday Night.: A full day of painting and a HUGE improvement!
I am stunned with the progress. On Sunday night, I hope to post the finished product.

I can't wait to show it! Stay tuned! I am giddy! xo J.

You are not alone!:) Our upstairs is the finished attic and when I go up there I have to close my eyes! It has become a huge storage room combined with the kids' hangout. The kids basically trash it until I go up there and yell to start cleaning it up! I'm hoping someday we can finish our downstairs' projects and begin the upstairs! It will be fun to see what your upstairs becomes! Keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteAm waiting with baited breath to see the improvement pics!
